A quick reminder: What is the ZLECAf?

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is an initiative of the African Union to create a single continent-wide market for goods, services, capital and people. It represents the world's largest free-trade zone in terms of the number of participating countries, thus promoting African economic integration.

North Africa's second-largest economy, Algeria has vast natural resources and a growing industrial potential.

Its levers :

  • Exports from natural gas and oil
  • Industrial diversification plan
  • Development of agri-food sector

Conclusion: Algeria needs to speed up the opening up of its trade market if it is to reap the full benefits of the FTAA.
