A quick reminder: What is the ZLECAf?

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is an initiative of the African Union to create a single continent-wide market for goods, services, capital and people. It represents the world's largest free-trade zone in terms of the number of participating countries, thus promoting African economic integration.

Its strengths:

  • Reserves in cobalt, copper, coltan
  • Reforms underway to diversify the economy
  • Importance of Congo Basin for ecology and energy

Conclusion: If it stabilizes its business environment, the DRC could become a strategic industrial player in the ZLECAf.
